We finally reached Derinkuyu, the most extensive underground city in Cappadocia. It is at least 400 feet deep with over 600 different entrances and, at one point, served as a home to thousands of Christians in hiding. It is literally a humungous city that exists completely underground, carved, tunneled and booby-trapped. It includes everything from churches to schools to wine cellars to dwellings and even stables.
